Fungal Leaf Spot

Fungal Leaf Spot

This isn’t a disease caused by a single species, but rather a large group of diseases affecting a wide range of plants. Their main similarity is that they all manifest as brown or tan spots, with or without a darker ring. If these expand and join together it is often renamed leaf blight, scorch or blotch.

As with most other fungus diseases you can minimize its occurrence with good sanitation, careful crop rotation and by removing any infected plants and crop debris. The spores of these diseases are often spread by water, so keep plants dry and provide good aeration. Chemical farmers use fungicides to control it.
